Albrecht Durer was an artist, engraver, printmaker and mathemetican who lived between 1471–1528.
Even though he lived in an age before the camera was invented, Durer was able to observe and record nature in a highly detailed realistic way. The image to the left is one he made of squirrels. In art class we looked at this image as an example of realism. Kids created realistic squirrel watercolor paintings and realistic clay sculptures of squirrels.
