Clay Mummy Time Capsules

Students in 6th grade create hollow clay mummy time capsules. They make a top and a bottom slab and then add an extruded side wall strip. When the clay stiffens up holes are cut into the bottom of the mummies to make corks.

Inside these mummies they place poems, drawings, answers to surveys and letters from friends and parents. Then on mummy sealing day they put all of their artifacts inside their mummy and the cork is sealed shut with window caulk.
