Clay Lessons for Kids

Standing Chicken by Travis in 2nd grade, he figured out how to stand it up on his own.
Chicken with a big egg and nest by Ben in 2nd grade.
I was told by this student that this chicken has chicken pox.
Because this chicken is all black, this student kept calling his chicken "the bad boy chicken".

To make baby animals like this chick, the key is to make the head larger in relationship to the body, just like human babies.

We've been creating animals from the farm for several weeks. As part of this series of lessons I have been showing kids images of these animals on the television in the classroom.

Artists look for inspiration and ideas when they create their artworks and that's why these chickens have such a wide variety of forms and colors. We may think that chickens are typically yellow, but when the kids saw photos of them in the art room they realized that chickens come in a wide variety of colors and species.
